by Chelsea Schroeder
As the leaves begin to change, so does your wardrobe! Dressing for the Fall weather can be tough, but with advice from Pink Lily Owner Tori Gerbig and Blogger Shea Leigh Mills, dressing for the cool season can be that much easier! Whether it’s trying to choose the best colors and layers to wear, or staying cozy yet fashionable for the weather, we have the tips and tricks that can make dressing for Fall a breeze!
When it comes to layering for the season, both Tori and Shea say that denim jackets and cardigans are the way to go!
SHEA: I always love a good denim jacket. You can throw it over a dress, a tank, or even sweater. It works all throughout the year, and especially in Autumn. I think layering is fun because you can combine different colors, patterns, and textures for fun and stylish looks in your very own style!
TORI: I love to layer with basic cardigans (our Solid Reputation Cardigans.) You can take a floral or patterned tank or tee into fall with just adding a cardigan and booties!
Fall is great for rocking earth tones, and even a simple contrast of colors can make any outfit pop!
TORI: My favorite fall colors are olive, mustard and rust. I always wear quite a bit of gold jewelry or bright scarves with olive to make it pop. With rust and mustard, I downplay the color with a neutral to make it less distracting and more of a long-lasting fall look.
SHEA: From what I have seen from other bloggers, Pinterest, and stores, earth tones are very in, as usual! Olive green, burnt orange, mustard, burgundy, navy, etc. Then for lighter tones, you can still have your light colors like tan, blush, white, or ivory. Contrast is great! You can do your solids, then add the lighter or darker tone vest, jacket, cardigan, etc., over the top to make it pop!
While dressing well for the chilly weather is exciting, it’s also equally as important to dress cozy and comfortably!
SHEA: I live in leggings! They are cozy and go with so much! Also, keep your skinny jeans tight, but don't try to lose circulation in your legs. They will look better and feel more comfortable if you get ones that fit and flatter your body!
TORI: Oversized cardigans and sweaters! I pair these with dressy jeans and booties to look dressed up but still am warm and cozy.
SHEA: Thank God that sweaters are in during this time of year too, because those things are great. You can wear them out, then come home and sleep in it and be comfy. Okay maybe not nap time material, but still, so cozy!
FAVORITE FALL TRENDS
We all know those trends that never go out of style! Tori and Shea share their top styles that they keep coming back to every Fall season!
TORI: My favorite styles would be rompers, short dresses and right now I am loving denim skirts with tees. I just pair these with sandals now and with booties or tall boots in the fall!
SHEA: I wear booties year round. They go with dresses, skirts, jeans, shorts, rompers, anything! I love love love them! And I love a little heel on them because I am shorter, so it gives just a little bit of height! The scarves and hats always add that "Fall" feel to any style. I also love chunky sweaters to be cozy and warm. Not to mention, they are super adorable!
PINK LILY MUST-HAVES
Tori and Shea share their top Pink Lily must-haves for the season!
TORI: Right now the graphic tee trend is huge. I love any of our pumpkin spice tees. I also love our overalls, fall dresses, and rompers.
SHEA: The Solid Reputation Cardigan is great! I also love love love my Oatmeal Monogrammed Vest, and the Utility Jackets of all colors! They have so many great styles and sweaters coming out, its hard to decide my favorites! Flannels are also my favorite. For around the waist, or over a tank with a vest. I love that look!
